Dropfiles

Creation date: 3/15/2023 3:34 PM    Updated: 3/15/2023 3:34 PM   dropbox dropfiles large files

This is the best way to share large files and can be used for people in and outlide the labratory, even if they don't have a CSHL account.

Background:

Dropfiles was implemented to replace our ftp server where we were able to share files with external registered users. This proved difficult to maintain and keep track of non cshl users.

Usage:

All cshl users can log in https://dropfiles.cshl.edu  on campus and off campus to upload files and email links to share files similar method as dropbox.

This also elevates the email attachment restriction that every establishment sets, typically 5-10 MB.

Default storage per cshl user is 40 GB. That includes multiple files adding up to 40 GB or one file 40 GB.

A request for more storage can be purchased or linked to existing purchased storage.

Note: There is a default time limit of one month but you have the ability to increase and decrease.

Can you please explain what “default time limit” of one month refers to?

The files uploaded by default will be deleted after one month.

Unless you change expiration date. Which is available on the main setup site.

Also this solution is not intended for long term storage.
