Office 365 & Gmail: Add Account to Android

Step 1: Open the Settings App

  1. Open Settings on your Android device.

  2. Scroll down and tap Accounts (or Passwords & Accounts, depending on your device).

  3. Tap Add Account.


Step 2: Choose Account Type

  1. Select Microsoft Exchange or Office 365 (If not listed, choose Exchange or Corporate).


Step 3: Enter Email Credentials

  1. Enter your Office 365 email address (e.g., yourname@cshl.edu).

  2. Tap Next.

  3. Enter your password when prompted.


Step 4: Authenticate with Microsoft 365

  1. If prompted, tap Sign in instead of "Manual Setup".

  2. A Microsoft login page will open:

    • Enter your password and tap Sign In.

    • Complete Duo authentication.

  3. If prompted, Accept permissions to allow syncing.


Step 5: Configure Sync Settings

  1. Choose which items to sync (Mail, Contacts, Calendar).

  2. Set the Sync frequency (e.g., Push, Every 15 minutes, etc.).

  3. Tap Next or Done.


Step 6: Complete Setup

  1. You may be asked to activate Device Administrator (required for security policies).

  2. Tap Activate to complete the setup.

  3. Open your Mail app and check your inbox.
