    Why Desktop Icons May Not Appear

    1. OneDrive Backup/Sync Settings:

      • If the Desktop folder is configured to sync via OneDrive, its contents are stored in C:\Users\<Your Name>\OneDrive\Desktop instead of the local C:\Users\<Your Name>\Desktop. Shortcuts or files stored in the OneDrive-synced folder may not display correctly if the system isn’t reading from the correct path12.

      • Solution: Verify if the Desktop folder is being synced:

        • Right-click the OneDrive taskbar icon → Settings → Backup → Manage Backup.

        • If Desktop is checked, uncheck it to revert to the local folder12.
