Thunderbird: Update Password

If you have recently changed your CSHL network password, you will need to update it in the Thunderbird mail application to continue receiving email.

Step-by-Step Instructions:
  • Open Settings
  • Click the gear icon in the bottom-left corner of the left-hand menu.
  • Go to Saved Passwords
  • Navigate to Privacy & Security, then locate the Passwords section and click Saved Passwords…
  • Remove the Old Password
  • Find the entry for your email account and remove the entire entry.
  • Restart Thunderbird
  • Close the Settings window, then fully quit and restart the Thunderbird application.
  • Enter Your New Password
  • When Thunderbird restarts and attempts to fetch mail, a pop-up will appear requesting your password.
  • You will be redirected to the CSHL Single Sign-On login screen. Enter your new password and select Save when prompted
Once completed, Thunderbird should resume normal mail delivery.
